Wet Gravity Hosting

Setup Incoming Email:

  • First make sure your account works with the web interface.
  • If you can't log into the web interface, then stop right here and contact David or Ajay
  • If you can get into the web interface (much nicer then Squirrel Mail, right?), let's proceed to Thunderbird/Outlook
  • In Thunderbird, go to Account Settings (Tools->Account Settings or Edit->Account Settings)
  • Click on "Add Account", check "Email account", hit Next
  • Type in your Name and email address, hit Next
  • Select IMAP, and put "mail.wetgravity.com" (no quotes) for the Incoming server, then hit Next
  • Your incoming username is the full email address "user@example.com", fill that out and then hit Next
  • The Account Name is just a Label for this account so you can remember what it is, you can put anything here and then hit Next, then Finish
  • Now, you're back at the "Account Settings" window, on the left hand side underneath your Label, click on "Server Settings"
  • For "Use secure connection", check "SSL". The port above should switch to 993, if it doesn't make sure it says 993 or else you won't be able to connect.
  • Hit "Ok" to exit the account settings.
  • Now that you're back at the main Thunderbird window, click on the INBOX underneath the new account. You might get an SSL warning about Thunderbird not liking the Certificate. Just hit "okay" and move on. I decided not to pay hundreds of dollars to buy an SSL cert for the warm and fuzzy feeling. The data is still secure and encrypted so no 3rd-parties can snoop your password. In any case, you should get to a a password box, type yours in and hit okay. You should be all set!

Setup Outgoing Email:

  • Make sure your in the Account Setting Page.
  • In the left side pane, at the very bottom there should be an option called, "Outgoing Server (SMTP)". Click on that.
  • If you have an entry for WetGravity then click on that, then hit "edit". Otherwise click on "new".
  • Description should say: Wet Gravity
  • Server Name has to be: mail.wetgravity.com
  • Leave "Port" alone.
  • In the "Security and Authentication" section, make sure the "Use name and password" box is checked.
  • Your User Name should be your full email address (ie, "user@example.com")
  • And check "SSL" for the "Use secure connection" buttons. Then verify that the Port box has now changed to 465. If it hasn't, then set it to 465.
  • Hit "Ok" to exit the SMTP Server window. Then hit "OK" to exit the Account Settings window. Now you're back in thunderbird, try sending a test message.
